I know we talk a lot about the soap our soap because we are proud of our soaps and we believe our soaps to be a great soap for your skin. A lot of times at the shows we are told that people use Dove. We are told that Dove soap is the best soap there is. I believe that when you find a product that you like and you want to use, then stay with it but make sure that you know what it is made up of. I took the time to look up the ingredients of Dove soap on their website. I have listed them below.

Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Tallowate Or Sodium Palmitate, Lauric Acid, Sodium Isethionate, Water, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoate Or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Fragrance, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium Edta, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891).”
The first think I noticed is there is a lot of use of the word sodium. Why is so much salt in a bar of soap? then I looked up the ingredients. Now most of these ingredients are somewhat ok ingredients but a few of them are noteworthy at least.
Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate is a detergent used to impart lather.
Stearic Acid is a wax like fatty acid extracted from animal fat
Sodium Tallowate is a fatty acid from rendered beef fat
Sodium Palmitate is derived from Palm Trees
Lauric Acid is a saturated fat found in coconut and palm kernel oils
Sodium Isethionate is a sodium derived from coconut oil.
Sodium stearate another salt derived from fatty acids
water
Cocamidopropyl Betaine a product derived from the reaction of dimethylaminopropylamine and coconut oil fatty acids. This produced product is then reacted with chloroacetic acid to form a product that is used as a surfectant and a detergent but has been known to cause allergic reaction in some users.
Sodium Cocoate is a salt derived of coconut oil.
Sodium Palm Kernelate is a salt derived from palm oil

Sodium Chloride is plain jane table salt. Why is this in Soap?
Tetrasodium Edta has been shown to be an eye toxicity. This ingredient is a preservative made from Formaldehyde.
Tetrasodium Etidronate is a product added to bind the calcium and magnesium in the water to prevent soap scum and bathtub rings.
Titanium Dioxide is a white pigment used in cosmetics and in paint to make a pretty white color.
