- Do you know what these ingredients are?
- Can you pronounce all of them?
- Did you know that “white” soap contains colorants to produce the white color?
This particular soap ingredient list is one I copied from Dial’s Website. I know that I see a lot of Sodium. In my mind sodium is drying to the skin. I also see Sorbitol which is an artificial sweetener. Why is that in soap? I also see talc. ,and alcohol. And we wonder why soap dries out our skin? Would you eat this? Would you feel comfortable putting a dish on your table for the kids to eat with even some of these ingredients in it? I know I wouldn’t. Most store brand soaps are actually not true soap but detergents which is made from petroleum. Come on if it is strong enough to cut grease from a car engine do you really want to use that in the shower?

Our soaps are made as natural as they can be. While you don’t want to eat our soap there is nothing there that will harm you. Lye you say? Lye will harm you to eat it? You are correct Lye will harm you but a final bar of soap has no lye in it.
How you say? When soap is created it goes through a chemical process called saponification. Basically the lye reacts with the oils and creates soap. In going through this process the lye is used up so a final product of good quality soap will have no lye in it.
Have you ever accidentally gotten lye in your mouth? Lye burns when it touches your mouth because it reacts with the moisture in your mouth. Take a bar of good quality hand-made soap and touch a tiny bit to your tongue. If you don’t feel a tingle like a 9-volt battery then you have a good hand-made soap. If you feel that tingle then you have a bar of soap that either was not processed correctly or has not aged long enough. You don’t want to use that soap on your skin.
Your skin is your largest organ and as an organ it absorbs things. What this means is what you put on your skin is going into your body. The soap we use is very important to all of us but most especially for someone with extreme dry skin or skin conditions. Hand-made soap has the naturally produced glycerin in it that helps draw in moisture from the air. Our soaps also include Honey and beeswax which also act as a humectant.
The bottom line is you need to take care of your skin. The body you are now in is the only body you will ever have so treat it with respect. Use an all natural soap like ours here at Dennis Creek Farms.
